The Buzzwords Of Mathematical Education
Charles Cooke
Abstract: Three “buzzwords” Constructivism, Multiple Embodiments and
Manipulatives, are discussed as examples of recent reinterpretations of ideas
which have deen in vogue for some time – Learning by Discovery. Varied
Examples, and Concrete Apparatus. Old ideas can be reinterpreted in the light of
modern developments and can continue to give us useful insights into teaching
strategies.
