Mathematical Problem Solving Seminar by Dr Yeap Ban Har
Synopsis
In 2013, the fourth edition of Singapore's problem-solving curriculum will be implemented. There will be an emphasis on learning experiences that students should have in the learning of mathematics. In this seminar, participants will learn to craft lessons that centre around anchor problems and how to differentiate the lessons to cater to struggling as well as advanced students. Given the recent emphasis on values, participants will also see how problem-solving lessons are excellent platforms to help students develop positive problem-solving attitudes. Lessons to teach new concepts and skills, drill-and-practice lessons and lessons for students to apply their knowledge will be included. Examples from different grades levels will be used.
