Academic Appointments

The Mathematics and Mathematics Education Academic Group of the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, invites application for the following two positions (Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) on a 3-year contract, subject to renewal.

Our teaching focuses on mathematics and mathematics pedagogy for pre-service, in-service, and graduate teachers, including practicum supervision. Our strong research in mathematics and mathematics education supports this teaching commitment. We thrive on team work, and our faculty members are expected to work with colleagues from other disciplines, schools, the Singapore Ministry of Education, and international institutes.

• PhD in Statistics or Applied Mathematics with a strong statistics component.
• Qualification in education and/or teaching at school level, an advantage.
• Evidence of very good feedback on tertiary teaching in these areas.
• Strong record of research and publications in Statistics or Applied Mathematics with a strong statistics component.
• Experience in curriculum development in Statistics or Applied Mathematics, an advantage.
• To teach tertiary statistics courses from undergraduate to graduate level and to supervise Masters and PhD dissertations, preferably in statistics or statistics education. May supervise student teachers during their attachment in schools.

• PhD, specializing in any area of Mathematics Education, e.g., problem solving, error analysis, ICT use.
• Qualification in education.
• Teaching experience at school level, an advantage.
• Evidence of very good feedback on tertiary teaching in mathematics teacher education.
• Strong record of research and publications in some aspects of Mathematics Education.
• Experience in curriculum development in Mathematics Education, an advantage.
• To teach mathematics pedagogy courses at all levels; supervise Masters and PhD dissertations in Mathematics Education. To supervise student teachers during their attachment in schools.
