The NIE Campus
The NIE campus is located in the western part of Singapore, near the Jurong West
Extension area. It is in close vicinity to the main public transport hub of the Boon
Lay Bus Interchange and the Boon Lay Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station.
Travelling to the Conference Venue
There are three ways of reaching the NIE campus: by the MRT train, by public bus, and by cars/taxis.
| MRT |
Take the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train and alight at the Boon Lay MRT Station.
Next take bus 179 or 199 at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange that is just next to the MRT station.

| Bus |
Two public buses ply the campus, 179 & 199. Each goes round the campus in a separate
loop fashion and starts and ends at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange.

| Car |
The Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) is the nearest expressway (highway) leading to the
university. The university can be accessed via two entrances: the Jalan Bahar main
entrance, or the PIE-Jurong West extension side entrance. Many huge signboards
have been set up to guide the car as it comes in through either of the two entrances
to the university.

| Taxis |
Taxis would take the routes open to cars. Taxi fare from airport to the Conference
venue is approximately S$25.
|
Parking
If you intend to drive to the conference venue, please note that Carparks 3, 4 and 5
are free of charge. The rates for the other Carparks are as follows:

Payment is by cash-card only. Cash-card top-up stations are located at
staircases of the buildings nearest to the carparks. Participants are
advised to park at Carparks 2 and 7 as these are nearer the main conference
venue (Block 7) and quite affordable.

As very limited parking space is available at the National Institute Education, Conference
participants are encouraged to either car pool or take public transport to the
Conference venue.

Registration for the Conference will be at the following times:

The Conference Registration Desk is located at the Conference Secretariat Room
(NIE7-01-RR6).
Upon registration, you will receive your Conference materials and a name badge,
which should be worn at all times during the Conference sessions.

Information for Paper Presenters
- All presentation rooms used for the conference are equipped with presenter's
PC running Windows XP and standard Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint.
The PC is Internet-enabled, has a USB port and is connected to a LCD projection
system.
- Presenters may choose to save their presentation material on zip-disks, thumb-drives,
or CD-ROMs.
- Presenters who prefer to use their own notebook PCs (laptops) may do also do so
by connecting them to the LCD projection system.
- All presenters are strongly advised to visit their presentation venues before the
scheduled time for their presentation to familiarise themselves with the equipment
and to test their presentation material.

Other Useful Information
- Banking
A branch of the OCBC bank is located within 5-minute walking distance from the conference
venue. The automatic teller machines at this bank will accept both VISA and MasterCard.
The bank also offers money exchange services. The opening hours are from 9:00am to
4:30pm, Mondays to Fridays.
- Post Office
Stamps can be purchased from the Campus Book Centre located at the NIE canteen.
The assistant at the counter will weigh your letters and sell you the correct postage.
Opening hours are from 9:30am to 6:30pm, Mondays to Fridays.
- Calling for a taxi
Participants may use the public telephones at the information desk of the Administration
Building (Block 1) to call for a taxi. Instructions are provided and the pick up point is at
the Administration Building.
